Normally, I do a bit of research before choosing a restaurant. In this case, I did not. I made my selection on the basis of two criteria - waterfront location and available parking. We were very happy with the results. (I have seen mixed reviews at Yelp.com and other sites.)
Between San Francisco and Sausalito, we made two stops close to Sausalito:
1. North Vista Point, which is located on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. It offers beautiful views of San Francisco and the Bay.
2. Marin Headlands, which is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It affords stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Golden Gate strait, whichlinks the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay.
Until this year, Salito's had been called Paradise Bay, which I believe had operated under that name for many years.
The restaurant is right on the waterfront amd has beautiful views of Richardson Bay. We could see a forest of sailboat masts from the restaurant.

My wife had a buttermilk-battered whitefish filet fishwich, with coleslaw and extra-virgin olive oil on the sandwich for $9.95 and a diet coke for $3. Her coke was served in a glass, but extra coke was provided in a decanter-style bottle.
My lunch was really good:
- A plate of eight wide half slices of San Daniele prosciutto for $8.95. San Daniele is one of the very best of the Italian prosciuttos.
- A dish of cavolo fritto - fried cabbage, bacon, and thin slices of pecorino, thin slices of carrot, onions, capers and parsley - for $4.95. It was terrific!
- House-made kettle bread baked and served hot in a skillet for $1. It was wonderful.
- A Glass of Kenwood Merlot for $9.
